ET Football: Two local players to take part in private school all-star game
Crosstown rivals Hayden Upchurch of Christian Heritage School and Austin Blackwell of Trinity School of Texas will suit up as teammates today when they participate in the 2017 Texas Private School All-Star Game at Bracken Christian School in Bulverde.
Upchurch and Blackwell will play for the North All-Stars in a contest that is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. tonight.
Upchurch completed 136 of 224 passes for 2,250 yards with 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this past season for Christian Heritage School.
Blackwell carried 162 times for 1,207 yards and 17 touchdowns, passed for 18 yards, caught three passes for 21 yards and recorded 31 tackles, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
Upchurch was also selected to the TAPPS All-State Six Man Football Team as a second-team kicker and honorable mention quarterback.
Area players joining him on that list were Zolen Grant of Trinity School of Texas (honorable mention tight end), Mark Mitchell of Christian Heritage School (honorable mention defensive line) and Caeden Flournoy of Christian Heritage School (honorable mention defensive back).Read The article here
