Middle School 6-8th Grade

Middle School Curriculum

Instruction in the core content areas in middle school is created by Trinity’s professional teaching faculty and administrators. It is designed to blend the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, or TEKS, with grade-level-appropriate iterations of the AP learning standards that serve as the foundation for student learning in upper school. Fidelity to the TEKS ensures complete instructional alignment across grade levels and divisions, while the implementation of grade-appropriate thematic elements of the AP learning standards empowers teachers to deliver instruction at a depth and complexity that will equip students with the foundational knowledge for honors-level and advanced placement coursework.

Teachers will employ additional supplemental curriculum resources to meet the needs of our students.

English Language Arts instruction will be supplemented by EB Academics’ curriculum, which provides frameworks for project-based learning in reading, writing, and language use.

Math instruction for 6th grade, pre-algebra, Algebra I, and geometry is enhanced by the “All Things Algebra” curriculum. TEKS-aligned, but rooted in the highly regarded Virginia Standards of Learning, “All Things Algebra” successfully bridges middle school math content to the AP learning standards that guide math instruction in Trinity’s upper school math honors and AP math courses.

Social studies instruction (6th-grade human geography, 7th-grade Texas history, and 8th-grade US history) is largely supported by Cengage/Nat Geo Learning. The content closely mirrors the AP learning standards, which students will engage with throughout the upper school social sciences course sequence.

Science instruction is supplemented with STEMscopes. Designed by Rice University researchers, STEMscopes integrates technology, engineering, and math into a robust, student-centered curriculum.

Spiritual Development

Middle School students experience chapel life two times a week. They attend formal chapel services on Tuesday with the entire student body.
