TUITION ASSISTANCE

What is tuition assistance?
Tuitition assistance consists of funds given to families who demonstrate a financial need for assistance with tuition expenses. Funds are made available to outstanding students who would otherwise be unable to afford such an opportunity. Awards are provided by Trinity School of Texas (TST) and all assistance documents and application are kept strictly confidential.

How is assistance determined?
To determine need, TST uses the services of the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey. This service uses information each family provides on a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) which asks for income, expenses, assets and liabilities. The PFS form is sent to families who request tuition assistance. The family sends the original completed PFS form to the School and Student Service in Princeton. SSS computes this information and determines an estimated need. The Report of Financial Need is sent from Princeton to TST. A copy of the family's current 1040 must also be sent to TST before the request can be considered.

Who can apply?
Anyone in grades 1 through 12 may apply for tuition assistance, but only students who have been accepted to TST and demonstrate financial need.

How much tuition assistance may I expect to receive?
Each case is considered individually. Every family should expect to contribute something toward their child's education. The total amount received will be based on demonstrated financial need, academic record, and character.

Is tuition assistance renewable each year?
A new application must be filed with the Office of Admission each year. Changes in your financial status may affect the size of your award.

Are there payment options?
TST offers annual, semester and monthly payment options.

What if there is a situation involving divorce and/or step-parents?
TST expects both the custodial and non-custodial parents to participate in the support of their child at TST. It is up to all parties involved to communicate and participate in good faith in the responsibilities. Custodial and non-custodial parents will be expected to submit a Parents' Financial Statement.

Are there any restrictions on tuition assistance students?
Each scholarship recipient is expected to maintain the highest academic standards, exemplary behavior, and compliance with all school policies. Failure to meet these expectations will result in review of tuition assistance by the Scholarship Committee mid-year and/or at the end of the school year.

When will I be notified if I have received tuition assistance?
Tuition assistance notification will begin in early March. Grants will continue to be awarded as money remains available. Please note: the time period between the family mailing the completed PFS form to Princeton and TST receiving the Report of Financial Need from SSS is approximately four (4) weeks.
